Trucking runs on information. To make a shipment go smoothly, your carrier has to process a lot of information about your shipment. This article highlights 20 pieces of key information you can provide to your carrier to help make your shipment go smoothly.<\/p>\n

1. Full address and phone number of shipper
\n2. Full address and phone number of consignee
\n3. Day\/Time Shipper expects pickup
\n4. Day\/Time Consignee expects delivery
\n5. If appointments are required at pick up or delivery?
\n6. Are there any pick up numbers required?
\n7. Are there any reference numbers required for delivery?
\n8. Actual size and weight of the shipment.
\n9. What size of skids if loaded on skids?
\n10. If loaded on the floor, who\u2019s doing the loading?
\n11. How long does it generally take to load\/unload?
\n12. Are there any requirements in terms of the driver (ie: safety gear, licensing, ID)?
\n13. Is the shipment hazardous, if so, hazmat class and UN Number?
\n14. If the shipment is to cross the border, name and phone number of customs broker and border crossing point if it\u2019s specific.
\n15. If shipment is crossing the border are there any special requirements (ie: food may require an inspection or special documentation).
\n16. If crossing the border, does your customs broker provide for 24 hour clearance?
\n17. Any special care requirements for the shipment (ie: temperature control)?
\n18. Any special security requirements (ie: seals, seal numbers, etc.)?
\n19. Any special trailer requirements (ie: barn doors, roll up doors, lift-gate)?
\n20. Type of trailer required: van, flatbed or reefer?<\/p>\n
